Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to sit down and catch up with one of my university friends, Purvam Limbachia. It was not just a casual conversation, but one that genuinely made me reflect on how unpredictable and exciting career journeys can be.
Purvam first came to the UK to pursue his MBA at the University of South Wales, graduating back in 2013. Like many international students, his time at university was not only about studying, but also about exploring new opportunities. One of the most interesting highlights from that period was his involvement in a documentary titled “Fog of Sex”, where he even received a credit on IMDb — something you do not hear every day.
Building a Career Back Home
After completing his studies, Purvam returned to India, bringing with him the knowledge and experience he had gained in the UK. Over the next decade, he steadily built his career, eventually progressing into a managerial role within his organisation.
From the outside, this might seem like a complete and successful journey — and in many ways, it was. However, as we spoke, it became clear that there was still something pulling him back towards the UK.
The Decision to Return to the UK
What stood out to me most was his honesty about feeling that there was unfinished business. For Purvam, the UK was more than just a place where he had studied; it was where he felt he could continue to grow both personally and professionally.
That realisation led him to make a bold decision — to return to the UK and pursue further education, enrolling in an MSc programme at Coventry University.
Making the choice to go back into education after nearly ten years of industry experience is not easy. It requires courage, clarity, and a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone.
A Story of Passion and Perseverance
Listening to Purvam’s journey reminded me of something important: career paths are rarely linear. Sometimes, growth requires us to pause, reassess, and even take a step back in order to move forward in a more meaningful way.
His story is a powerful example of how passion can guide decision-making. Rather than staying in a comfortable position, he chose to follow what truly motivated him, even if it meant starting a new chapter.
For anyone considering studying abroad, switching careers, or returning to education, this is a reminder that it is never too late to invest in yourself.
Why This Story Matters
What makes Purvam’s journey so relatable is not just his success, but his willingness to embrace uncertainty. Many of us reach a point where we question whether we are on the right path. His experience shows that it is perfectly valid to change direction if it aligns with your long-term vision.
Sometimes, the biggest growth comes from the decisions that feel the most uncomfortable at the time.
